Popular Pastry Shop Holds Charity Sale with Temple for Special Education School

Ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a renowned pastry shop, Bu Er Gao Bing, is collaborating with the historic Wanhe Temple in Taichung for a charity sale of its popular egg yolk pastries.

The event, held at the temple, aims to raise funds for the Taichung Special Education School. A total of 1,200 egg yolk pastries will be available for purchase at a special charity price of 60 NT dollars each, with a limit of six per person. The pastries sold out within two hours, demonstrating strong community support.

Wanhe Temple, a national third-class historic site with a 342-year-old statue of Mazu, is hosting the event for the first time with a local business. Temple chairman Xiao Qingjie expressed that while Bu Er Gao Bing initially intended to donate proceeds to the temple, they jointly decided to expand the charity's reach to students in greater need.

Bu Er Gao Bing is a third-generation business that traces its roots to the "Grandpa Ji" family lineage, sharing the same recipe as the famous Changhua Bu Er Fang. The shop also offers a unique "Lemon Moon Pastry," which incorporates local Pingtung lemons into a mooncake-style confection for a refreshing taste. Bu Er Gao Bing manager Zeng Mengru stated that the bakery aims to combine its craft with the temple's compassionate spirit to spread warmth and blessings within the community.
