Jota, who tragically passed away with his brother in a car accident in Spain last year, was a key player for Portugal, having earned 49 caps and scored 14 goals. His absence from the upcoming World Cup, where Portugal is grouped with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia, is a source of deep sorrow for his teammates and fans.

Before departing for the United States for the World Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo and his fellow players pledged to fight for glory for their nation and to dedicate their efforts as a special gift to Jota. Portugal is set to play its opening match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 18.
