POSCO Holdings builds integrated ESG data system ahead of disclosure mandate

POSCO Holdings is proactively preparing for upcoming mandatory ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) disclosure requirements by implementing a unified data management system across its group. This initiative aims to consolidate and standardize ESG information from its various subsidiaries, providing investors and rating agencies with a clearer and more accessible view of the conglomerate's sustainability efforts.

The company announced the release of its "2025 Sustainability Report," which features standardized ESG disclosure data from seven affiliated business units. This move is significant as it establishes a group-wide data management standard in anticipation of stricter ESG disclosure regulations. ESG disclosures involve revealing non-financial information such as carbon emissions, safety practices, human rights, supply chain management, and corporate governance.

Investors and ESG rating agencies are increasingly incorporating sustainability-related information into their investment decisions and corporate evaluations, looking beyond traditional financial performance. This includes assessing a company's response to climate change, prevention of industrial accidents, management of partners, and board operations. However, managing ESG information consistently across diverse business units within a large group presents a considerable challenge, which POSCO Holdings appears to be addressing with this new integrated system.
