PPL pushes dry season energy security support to keep Lights on

PNG Power Limited (PPL) is actively pursuing measures to guarantee energy security throughout the dry season, a critical period for maintaining consistent power supply. The company's Chief Executive Officer and Chief Network Officer recently met with the Minister responsible for PPL, Richard Maru, to address these concerns.

The primary focus of the discussion was to secure support for sustaining generation from the Port Moresby power station. This is particularly important given the anticipated effects of El Niño conditions, which can often lead to reduced water levels for hydropower and increased demand for electricity.

PPL's proactive approach aims to prevent power disruptions and ensure reliable electricity access for consumers during the challenging dry season. The collaboration with the relevant ministry underscores the government's commitment to supporting essential services like power generation.
