Prabowo Awards Honorary Rank to Former Aide of Founding President Sukarno

President Prabowo Subianto has bestowed an honorary rank upon Irjen Pol (Purn) Sidarto Danusubroto, a distinguished figure who served as the final aide to Indonesia's first president, Sukarno. The ceremony, held during the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration at the Brimob Polri Training Unit in Cikeas, Bogor Regency, saw the President personally confer the new rank.

Sidarto's tenure as Sukarno's aide began in February 1967, following a period of political transition. He remained by Sukarno's side until the founding father's passing. His career also included significant roles in law enforcement, such as Head of the Tangerang Police, Head of the Polri Information Service, and Head of Interpol Indonesia. He later served as the Regional Police Chief for South Sumatra and West Java.

Beyond his police service, Sidarto transitioned into politics, representing the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in the DPR/MPR for three terms. He was appointed Chairman of the MPR in 2013, succeeding Taufiq Kiemas. He also served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council during Joko Widodo's administration.

The honorary rank award also recognized two other retired police officials: Irjen Pol (Purn) Taufiequrachman Ruki, former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and Brigjen Pol (Purn) Taufiq Effendi, former Minister of Administrative Reform.
