Prabowo warns corrupt officials: 'Be self-aware, stop your practices'

President Prabowo Subianto has issued a stern warning to corrupt officials, imploring them to halt their practices and return the nation's wealth. "I warn again, once again, for the umpteenth time, I have spoken since the beginning. Hey corruptors, be self-aware. Stop your practices. Stop. The people are not stupid. Stop," Prabowo declared during the 79th National Cooperatives Day commemoration in Jakarta.

He stressed the importance of justice, stating, "Return the people's wealth, return it properly. We are a forgiving nation, but the people need justice." Prabowo articulated his vision for a prosperous Indonesia, where state funds are directed towards essential public services such as building good schools and improving the welfare of teachers, doctors, nurses, military personnel, police, and civil servants. He believes adequate salaries for these professionals would prevent them from extorting the public or engaging in corruption.

Furthermore, Prabowo announced a government initiative to streamline state-owned enterprises (BUMN), which he identified as a persistent source of corruption.
