Pre-peak discount issue that affected 210,000 journeys a day on Aug 20 and 21 fixed: SimplyGo

SimplyGo has resolved a technical glitch that impacted the application of pre-peak rail fare discounts for an average of 210,000 journeys per day on August 20 and 21. The company, a subsidiary of the Land Transport Authority, stated that a configuration error caused the issue, affecting both SimplyGo EZ-Link and bank card transactions.

Commuters who used the SimplyGo service during the affected period will now see the correct fares, including the eligible discount, reflected in the SimplyGo app. The company has apologized for the inconvenience caused and expressed gratitude for the public's patience.

The pre-peak discount scheme, introduced in December 2017, offers commuters a discount of up to S$0.50 for tapping in at any rail station before 7:45 a.m. on weekdays. This initiative aims to encourage off-peak travel. Commuters with remaining queries can reach out to the SimplyGo hotline.
