Premier Cho Pledges Progress on Changhua Development Projects After Presidential Apology

Taiwan's Premier Cho Jung-tai met with Changhua County Magistrate Wang Hui-mei on Tuesday, promising to gradually advance significant development projects in the region. The meeting occurred just a day after President Lai Ching-te apologized to Wang for a verbal slip during a campaign event.

Changhua is one of the important bases for precision manufacturing. Whether it is the Erlin Precision Science Park that the county magistrate is concerned about, or the Changhua interchange project, and the future applicable plan for Mingdao University, the Executive Yuan has been working on them in recent months.

Cho affirmed the government's commitment to several key initiatives, including the Central Precision Science Park and the revitalization of the former Mingdao University campus as a hub for traditional Chinese medicine research and development. He noted that the Executive Yuan has been actively working on these plans over the past few months.

The Environmental Protection Administration received the revised environmental impact assessment plan for the Erlin Precision Science Park this month and is currently reviewing it. In the future, Changhua's development will definitely be integrated with the Central Precision Science Park. This area will include traditional precision machinery, new optical technologies, and smart agriculture.

During his visit, Cho also toured a community care center in Yuanlin City that combines daycare services with a coffee shop, supporting local long-term care families. Wang highlighted Changhua's growing elderly population and the county's efforts to expand long-term care services, including innovative co-living facilities for seniors and children.

Changhua's elderly population has reached 20.9%, and the demand for elderly care is increasing. The county government can build 52 long-term care service points in the county, 18 of which are the first in the country for co-living of the elderly and children.
