Premier Thursday: Family fantasy film, horror, and a Kyrgyz comedy debut

Bishkek's cinemas are ushering in a new wave of films this Thursday, offering a diverse lineup for audiences. Among the new releases is a Kyrgyz comedy, an animated adventure, and a family fantasy film, promising a variety of entertainment options.

The Kyrgyz comedy, titled "Naemnikter," centers on Akyl, who is preparing for his daughter's wedding. Unexpected expenses and arriving guests push his family to the brink of financial ruin. In an attempt to cut costs, he hires an inexpensive handyman through the internet, only for the intermediary to disappear with the money. As all seems lost, a Uzbek handyman named Alisher remains. To save the celebration, Akyl and Alisher begin taking on repair jobs together.

Horror enthusiasts can look forward to "The Cursed Knight," set during the era of the Crusades. Anna's husband embarks on a campaign and doesn't return. His loyal friend John, deeply in love with Anna, informs her of his death at the hands of bandits. Soon after, a demonic rider appears in the village, threatening anyone who approaches Anna.

"Momo," a fantasy film, features a young orphan named Momo who possesses the extraordinary ability to inspire people and awaken their best qualities. She notices strange "gray gentlemen" in her city, teaching residents to manage their time efficiently. However, this focus on productivity leaves people increasingly unhappy as they feel their lives are being wasted.

Additionally, the animated film "Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon" follows a young eagle named Iggy, who dreams of soaring freely. In his highly civilized bird society, flying has been largely forgotten. His world changes when he meets his new classmate, Eve, who is passionate about aviation. The lineup also includes the thriller "The Abyss," about newlyweds Dasha and Sasha whose parachute jump goes awry when the pilot turns out to be Dasha's ex, leading to a crash and a desperate jump. Finally, "Backstage of Reality" is a horror film about a furniture salesman who discovers a portal to another dimension in his store's basement, leading him into a disorienting labyrinth.
