President Faye praises Sahara Group’s lasting support for Senegal’s energy development

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has praised Sahara Group for what he described as its longstanding support for Senegal’s energy sector, highlighting the company’s partnership with Société Africaine de Raffinage, or SAR, as part of the country’s energy-security effort.

Faye made the comments at the Presidential Palace in Dakar while receiving a Sahara delegation led by Executive Director Wale Ajibade. SAR Managing Director Mamadou Abib Diop also attended the meeting. The president recognised Sahara’s Pan-African outlook and its continued backing for Senegal’s energy ambitions.

Ajibade thanked the president for the recognition and reaffirmed Sahara’s commitment to working with stakeholders across Senegal’s energy system. He said the company would deploy its expertise, infrastructure, financing capacity and operational experience to support energy access, reliable supplies and economic growth.

He added that Sahara continued to support SAR’s crude oil supply requirements while working with local stakeholders on changing market conditions.
