President Lee Jae-myung congratulated director Lee Chang-dong after he became the first Korean recipient of the Auteur Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival.

I too was deeply impressed by Director Lee Chang-dong’s body of work when I watched Peppermint Candy.

Lee said the award was a welcome result of the filmmaker’s long pursuit of his own path. He also said Lee Chang-dong’s new film, Possible Love, had been invited to compete at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, adding that he hoped for further good news there.
