President Lee Gifts Chilean President 'Ilwolobongdo' Painting, Wishing Prosperity

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung presented a traditional Korean 'Ilwolobongdo' painting to Chilean President Gabriel Boric during a summit in Santiago. The 'Ilwolobongdo,' a painting typically displayed behind the throne of Joseon Dynasty kings, symbolizes a wish for Chile's prosperity under Boric's new administration.

The Blue House explained that the 'Nacre Inlaid Sun and Moon Over Five Peaks Painting' was chosen to honor Boric's wise leadership since his inauguration in March. Alongside the painting, Lee also gifted a set of traditional Korean brass wine glasses, intended to showcase the beauty of Korean lacquerware and metal craftsmanship while acknowledging Chile's status as a world-renowned wine-producing region.

We selected the 'Nacre Inlaid Sun and Moon Over Five Peaks Painting' with the meaning of wishing Chile prosperity through the wise leadership with which President Cast is newly leading state affairs since his inauguration in March.

In return, President Boric and his wife, Irina Karamanos, presented President Lee and his wife, Kim Hye-kyung, with gifts including alpaca blankets, Chilean wine, and other local items. The exchange underscores the diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties between South Korea and Chile, marked by mutual respect and cultural appreciation.
