President Lee Jae-myung Returns from Europe Tour; Greeted by PM Kim, Party Leader Chung

President Lee Jae-myung has returned to South Korea, arriving at Seoul Airport on June 18 following his European tour. His itinerary included participation in the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy.

The president was welcomed by a delegation including Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and Democratic Party leader Rep. Chung Jin-suk. The presence of these key figures at the arrival ceremony was noted by political observers.

Rep. Chung's participation in the welcoming party gained particular attention because he had not attended the send-off event when President Lee departed on June 9. This earlier absence had fueled speculation about internal party competition, particularly regarding the next party leadership.

During the airport greeting, President Lee shook hands with Rep. Chung, offering words of encouragement. He did not make any specific remarks to Prime Minister Kim, who was the first to greet him. The Presidential Office had previously announced the list of attendees for the homecoming event, which some interpreted as an attempt to ease perceived tensions between the party and the presidential office.
