President Lee urges party, government, Blue House unity in meeting with new DP leadership

President Lee Jae-myung met with the newly elected leadership of the Democratic Party on Monday, emphasizing the need for harmony and unity among the party, the government, and the presidential office.

During a dinner reception at the Blue House, Lee stated, "The president can be called the flower nurtured and bloomed by the Democratic Party. I am the most important member of the Democratic Party." He added, "The government, too, is a government created by our Democratic Party." Lee underscored the limitations of unilateral action, noting that "whether it's the party, the government, or the Blue House, there are very limited things that can be achieved alone in the process of policy execution." He expressed his expectation that the party, government, and Blue House would unite to faithfully carry out their responsibilities entrusted by the public and demonstrate a tangible improvement in the lives of citizens and the future of South Korea.

Reflecting on the intense factional conflicts during the party's recent convention, Lee remarked, "No matter how great the differences, they are not as significant as the differences we must overcome with our opponents." He used a metaphor to illustrate his point: "If we seek out differences, we will head down the path of enemies; if we find common ground, we become affectionate brothers. I believe our party, government, and Blue House must become like that." He urged party members to move beyond minor differences and dedicate themselves to building a "great Korea" entrusted to them by the public.

Floor leader Han Byung-do committed to achieving tangible results through close and organic cooperation among the party, government, and presidential office, specifically mentioning the timely processing of the "Mega Special District Law" budget and the "Future Response Fund Establishment Law."
