President Lee: Yongin, Pyeongtaek Semiconductor Production at Limit; Honam Region Offers Potential

President Lee Jae-myung declared that South Korea's key semiconductor hubs in Yongin and Pyeongtaek have reached their production capacity limits. The president made these remarks during a public briefing on the "3 Major Mega Projects for Korea's Great Leap Forward" held at the Blue House guest house.

Lee emphasized that the Honam region, in contrast, offers ample land and water resources, positioning it as a prime area for future development. This statement suggests a strategic shift in focusing semiconductor and other industrial growth towards less saturated regions.

The briefing was attended by prominent figures, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won. Their presence underscored the government's commitment to these large-scale national projects and the collaboration between the public and private sectors.
