President Nicușor Dan spotted in casual wear visiting relatives in Făgăraș

Romanian President Nicușor Dan was spotted in Făgăraș on Saturday, August 15, enjoying the Dormition of the Mother of God holiday with his children and partner. The president visited his aunt, his mother's sister, in Făgăraș, dressed in relaxed summer clothing. Local children showed curiosity, with some seeking photos with the president.

Dan was also accompanied by members of his security detail. Earlier that day, he visited the Dejani Monastery in Brașov County, near the Făgăraș Mountains, with his partner Mirabela Grădinaru and their two children.

Meanwhile, presidential advisor Marius Lazurca represented President Dan at the Navy Day ceremony in Constanța, conveying the president's message. Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan also attended the event and faced some booing from attendees.

This marks the second year Nicușor Dan has missed the Constanța ceremony on Navy Day. His absence in 2025, a few months after taking office, was unusual, being the first time in over a decade that the Romanian president, as supreme commander of the armed forces, did not attend the Navy Day events. The last president to miss the ceremony was Traian Băsescu in 2011, who cited his wife's birthday as the reason.
