President Zardari approves summoning of NA, Senate sessions on August 17

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved key summaries forwarded by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, paving the way for significant governmental and judicial actions. Among the approvals is the summoning of both the National Assembly and the Senate for joint sessions scheduled to convene on August 17, with the National Assembly meeting at 5 p.m. and the Senate at 4 p.m.

In a separate directive, President Zardari sanctioned the awarding of military honors to 1,172 personnel from the armed forces and civil armed forces, recognizing their service and dedication. Furthermore, in observance of Independence Day and Eid Miladun Nabi, the president approved a special 100-day remission in sentences for eligible prisoners across the country.

The President's Secretariat also announced that Zardari has given his assent to the awarding of national honors to citizens from various civil sectors, acknowledging their contributions. Earlier this week, the president had also resolved a weeks-long deadlock between the Presidency and the government by approving the appointment of 19 additional judges for five high courts and confirming another five as permanent judges.
