Primaries: APC Group Slams Ondo Govt for Deploying State Resources to Vilify Party Leadership, NWC

A coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Ondo State has publicly supported the party's National Working Committee (NWC) in its decision to review the results of senatorial and House of Representatives primaries. Operating under the banner of the Ondo APC Progressive Minds Alliance (OPMA), the group views this review as a necessary measure to maintain the party's constitution and integrity.

The Ondo APC Progressive Minds Alliance salutes our respected National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, for his courage and integrity in ensuring that the party’s constitution is not subverted by any individual or group.

OPMA, comprising "progressive-minded stakeholders, loyal party members, and believers in internal democracy," has rejected what they describe as a narrative propagated by certain groups within the state. They insist that the NWC acted within its constitutional authority. The coalition specifically commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership in strengthening the APC's internal mechanisms nationwide and applauded National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda for his commitment to due process.

Adding to their defense of the NWC, OPMA expressed dismay over the alleged "unfortunate deployment of state resources" by the APC government in Ondo State. They claim state apparatus is being used to "falsely accuse and vilify" the NWC and its leadership, calling it a "dangerous precedent and a betrayal of the trust reposed in the party leadership."

It is most regrettable that the same party that controls the government in Ondo State has resorted to using state apparatus to malign the NWC and discredit its decisions. This is a dangerous precedent and a betrayal of the trust reposed in the party leadership.

The group maintains that the NWC was merely exercising its constitutional mandate to review appeals and ensure that the primary election outcomes accurately reflected the will of the party members. They highlighted the exemplary leadership of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as an inspiration within Ondo State, praising his dedication to party ideals and respect for the NWC's authority.
