Primaries: Nasarawa APC gov aspirant cautions supporters

Hassan Liman, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and an aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Nasarawa State, has called for peace and unity among party members following the conclusion of the primaries. Liman, who scored 863 votes, urged his supporters and those of other aspirants to rally behind the declared flag bearer, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, to ensure the party's victory in the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Lafia, Liman emphasized the importance of following due process for any grievances. He stated that peace is the bedrock of society and essential for the prosperity of Nasarawa State and Nigeria. "I urge each and every one of us to remain calm and ensure that we do things that will bring prosperity and peace to our great Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large," Liman said.

I therefore call on all Nasarawa State citizens, especially members of our great party, to be law-abiding and peaceful in the way and manner they conduct themselves. There is no alternative to peace. Peace is the bedrock of everything in society.

However, the primary election was not without controversy. Professor Mohammad Haruna, another aspirant and former Executive Vice-Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), alleged significant irregularities. Haruna described the primaries as a "sham," claiming that partisan interests favored the government-anointed aspirant, Wadada. He reported that electoral materials and officials failed to arrive in numerous wards across the state, preventing many party members from participating.

Haruna specifically noted that electoral officials and materials did not reach his own ward, denying him the opportunity to vote. "For instance, electoral officials and materials never arrived at my electoral ward, therefore denying me an opportunity to vote," he stated. He also cited reports of intimidation and disruption in certain polling areas, further undermining the integrity of the process.
