Prime Minister to inspect Matarbari projects, visit Hefazat chief

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to visit Chattogram on August 9, embarking on a day filled with project inspections and engagements with various community and religious leaders. The local administration and BNP leaders are making extensive preparations to welcome him.

We have many demands that we will tell him. Despite having great potential, Fatikchhari people still lag behind. We will place our demands before him.

Rahman's schedule begins at 9:00 AM in Maheshkhali, where he will inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, a coal-fired power plant, and the operations of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority. Later, around noon, he will travel to Baharchhara in Banshkhali to participate in a program for flood-affected individuals. During this event, he is expected to distribute relief supplies and hand over keys to new homes for 100 homeless families.

The Prime Minister's itinerary also includes a courtesy visit at 1:00 PM to Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari, the ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam, at his Madrasa in Fatikchhari. Following this, he will pay respects at the grave of the late Hefazat-e-Islam leader Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi at another Madrasa in Hathazari.

A festive mood has been prevailing across the district’s political arena ahead of his visit. We have directed our party members to work in a coordinated manner so that the programme can be held peacefully.

After a short break, Rahman will attend a flood rehabilitation program at Hathazari Government College ground. Here, he will provide Tk 100,000 each to 30 flood-affected families for rebuilding their homes and offer gifts of Tk 10,000 each to 15 people with disabilities. The day will conclude with an organizational meeting of Chattogram BNP at the Radisson Blu hotel before his departure for Dhaka at 9:20 PM. Local MP Sarwar Alamgir expressed hopes that the Prime Minister would address the development needs of Fatikchhari, while BNP's Chattogram North District convener Golam Akbar Khandakar noted a festive atmosphere and urged coordinated efforts for a peaceful program.
