Prosecutor arrested in Peru after allegedly assaulting police officers

A prosecutor in Piura, Peru, has been arrested following an alleged assault on police officers during a traffic intervention. Prosecutor Johany Lindao Feria was detained by the National Police of Peru after being accused of attacking officers who stopped her for allegedly reckless driving in the Castilla district.

According to Latina Noticias, officers reported verbal abuse and physical altercations with the prosecutor during the operation. A video circulating on social media, reportedly filmed inside a police station, shows Lindao, visibly agitated, striking one of the uniformed officers with her head.

The incident has sparked public outcry and led to an official statement from the Public Ministry. Due to the alleged assault, Johany Lindao has been preliminarily detained on suspicion of committing a crime against public administration, specifically violence and resistance against authority. The Piura Prosecutor's Office for flagrante delicto cases has taken over the investigation.

Further investigation is also underway for the driver of the vehicle Lindao was traveling in. Authorities are working to determine if the driver was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
