Prosecutor Summons Ex-Milei Chief of Staff Adorni to Explain Wealth Amid Illicit Enrichment Probe

Manuel Adorni, who previously served as chief of staff to Argentine President Javier Milei, has been formally summoned by prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita to account for his personal wealth. The summons is part of an ongoing judicial investigation into allegations of illicit enrichment.

Pollicita's request highlights significant increases in Adorni's assets, acquisitions, and expenditures. According to the prosecutor, these financial movements lack sufficient explanation when compared against the legally proven income of Adorni's family group. Adorni is now required to provide justification for the origin of these funds within a 15-day period.

Should Adorni's explanation be deemed insufficient by the investigators, he could face a formal inquiry. While the prosecutor can request such an inquiry, the final decision rests with the case judge, Ariel Lijo. This marks the first time Adorni will be required to provide a judicial explanation for his financial dealings.

Adorni's defense team, led by Matías Ledesma, has participated in previous stages of the investigation but has not yet submitted any supporting documentation. A specialized technical report from the Public Ministry on the evolution of Adorni's assets has been reviewed by Pollicita, who has outlined 20 specific points requiring clarification. These include the source of declared dollars, real estate transactions, and the traceability of funds.
