Prosecutors Argue Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon Violated Bail Conditions

The prosecution has formally notified the Seoul Western District Court that Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon's post-release conduct appears to disregard the spirit of his bail. Jeon, the leader of the Sarang Jeil Church, was granted bail on October 7th, citing health concerns, under specific conditions: he was to remain at his residence and refrain from contacting individuals involved in his trial. However, since his release, Pastor Jeon has been a visible figure at weekly Gwanghwamun rallies, participating both in person and via video link for five consecutive weeks, demonstrating a clear pattern of public engagement.

Further raising concerns, Jeon also visited former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is currently detained at Seoul Detention Center, on October 30th. This meeting, along with his continued participation in political rallies, suggests a pattern of behavior that deviates from the restrictive conditions set forth by the court. The prosecution's submission argues that these actions demonstrate a disregard for the court's intentions when granting bail, which was primarily based on his health.

This situation carries particular weight given Pastor Jeon's history. He was previously released on bail in 2020 after being arrested on charges related to violating election laws.
