Protest at AKP Meeting in Trabzon: Citizen Removed After Accusing Mayor of Lying

Tensions flared at an AKP provincial advisory meeting in Trabzon when a citizen, Temel Kara, vocally protested during the speech of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç. Kara, who identified himself as having worked with the AKP for approximately 25 years, accused the mayor of making false statements.

"You are speaking lies, you are speaking lies," Kara declared, voicing his frustration over unmet demands. The protest occurred in the presence of other party officials, including AKP Trabzon Member of Parliament Vehbi Koç and former Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu.

Mayor Genç attempted to de-escalate the situation, addressing Kara as "Temel abi" and stating, "I listen to you every day. Calm down. I have handled your issue. Let's offer Temel abi some tea, wait for me." However, Kara continued his protest, prompting intervention from security personnel.

Security guards forcibly removed Kara from the hall. Video footage captured the moment of his removal. The incident highlights internal dissent within the ruling party's local branch, stemming from unaddressed citizen grievances.
