Protest march in Şile condemns 'betrayal' after local election results

A 'Respect for the People's Will March' took place in Şile, protesting the recent political maneuvering following operations against local municipalities. The demonstration specifically targeted the actions of Sacit Terzi, who was elected as Şile Municipality Deputy Mayor and subsequently joined the AK Party.

The marchers expressed strong disapproval of what they termed a "betrayal" of the voters' mandate. The protest highlights tensions arising from shifts in local political allegiances after official actions against municipal governments.

Speaking at the event, Özgür Çelik, Istanbul Provincial Chairman of the NEW PARTY, delivered a fiery speech. He declared that the people of Şile, Tuzla, Çekmeköy, and Beykoz would not forgive those who he accused of surrendering to "darkness" and acting without integrity. Çelik's remarks underscored the deep sense of grievance among those who participated in the march, framing the deputy mayor's party switch as a profound betrayal of public trust.
