PS rejects power shift at Anderlechtse Haard: Lotfi Mostefa remains chairman of housing company

Lotfi Mostefa, a member of the Socialist Party (PS), has been re-elected as the chairman of the Anderlechtse Haard housing company, despite facing significant opposition. His re-election comes after a report by Pano revealed his alleged personal interference in the allocation of social housing units within the municipality.

Mostefa, who also serves as Anderlecht's alderman for Housing, was accused of personally influencing the distribution of social homes. This revelation led to a challenge to his leadership, with the opposing MR party and Les Engagés attempting to oust him. The vice-chairman, Marcela Gori of MR, had sought to suspend Mostefa, but the PS board members and management resisted the change.

Several board meetings were previously canceled due to the PS members' absence, preventing Gori's suspension from being formally ratified. However, a meeting on Wednesday evening allowed the board to convene. On the PS's request, a vote was held on the chairmanship. Mostefa received the support of five out of the nine board members, including a member from Les Engagés, securing his return to the leadership position.
