PSC dismisses four senior police officers, demotes 10

The Nigerian Police Service Commission (PSC) has taken decisive action against senior police officers, approving the dismissal of four and the demotion of ten others due to various acts of misconduct. This move is part of a broader effort to instill greater discipline and professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.

In addition to the dismissals and demotions, the PSC also meted out disciplinary sanctions to 31 other officers. These sanctions range from compulsory retirement in the public interest for two officers, to severe reprimands, reprimands, warning letters, and letters of advice for others. The commission, however, cleared seven officers after finding no evidence of wrongdoing.

The current Board of the PSC under my watch will not condone any form of misconduct by police officers. The Commission will continue to uphold discipline in the Force and match all forms of misconduct with commensurate disciplinary actions.

Hashimu Salihu Argungu, the Chairman of the PSC, emphasized the commission's commitment to zero tolerance for misconduct. He stated that the current board will not condone any form of misconduct and will continue to enforce discipline with commensurate actions. Argungu also assured that officers demonstrating exemplary service would be recognized and motivated through the established reward system.

The PSC reaffirmed its dedication to promoting accountability, professionalism, and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force by strictly enforcing disciplinary standards.
