PTI protests outside SC over Imran Khan's health, pending cases

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters staged a protest outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, demanding early hearings for former Prime Minister Imran Khan's pending cases and expressing concern over his health.

We neither politicise Imran Khan’s health, nor has Imran Khan ever raised the issue of his health with the objective of seeking any form of relief.

The demonstration concluded after the court registrar assured party leaders that the cases would be scheduled for hearing next week. PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking expedited hearings and access for Khan's family members and personal doctors.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who participated in the protest, voiced serious concerns about reports regarding Imran Khan's health. He stated that the nation has significant reservations about his well-being and stressed the imperative of treating his health with the seriousness it warrants. Afridi urged that the demand for Khan to receive treatment under the supervision of his personal physicians, in the presence of his family, be accepted.

Afridi drew a parallel to Nawaz Sharif's medical treatment abroad during Imran Khan's tenure as prime minister, highlighting Khan's compassionate decision despite questions about medical certificates. He contrasted this with Imran Khan's current situation, where he claims the former prime minister is being denied fundamental human rights and access to justice.

Imran Khan was aware of those concerns, yet he acted in accordance with the principles of humanity and compassion and allowed Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The chief minister alleged that Imran Khan is imprisoned in fabricated cases while his political opponents are involved in corruption. He asserted that those responsible for injustice would face consequences and that the country's justice system is undergoing a critical test of its institutional integrity. Afridi expressed hope that judges would take principled stands for justice, inspired by the "spark of revolution" he sees in the nation's youth.

Today, Imran Khan himself is being denied fundamental human rights and access to justice. This is deeply concerning and completely unacceptable.
