PTI remains wary as govt renews talks offer

Pakistan's government has extended a renewed invitation to the main opposition party, PTI, for dialogue, but the party remains cautious. PTI has stipulated that any negotiations must include better meeting facilities and improved medical access for its detained chairman, Imran Khan.

National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with PTI's Chief Whip Aamir Dogar and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. Following the meeting, Dr. Fazal stated that the government offered to hold talks at a venue within Parliament House, as proposed by PTI. He expressed optimism that the opposition would respond favorably, emphasizing that "the ball is now in PTI’s court."

Dr. Fazal recalled Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's earlier offer for dialogue, to which PTI did not respond. He asserted that negotiations are the sole path to resolving political issues. PTI's Central Information Secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, was also present at the discussions, indicating the party's engagement in the process despite its stated reservations.
