Punk frontman and wife attacked in Pula after confronting litterers

Saša Milovanović, the frontman of the legendary Pula punk band KUD Idijoti, and his wife Martina were physically assaulted in the center of Pula after confronting a group of young men about their disruptive behavior and littering. The incident occurred around midnight on Friday.

Milovanović, also known for his record and CD stall in the city, recounted that he observed a group of young men scattering cardboard boxes and packaging in front of shops. His wife initially warned the group, calling their behavior unacceptable for visitors. Milovanović then approached them, threatening to call the police if they didn't stop.

Instead of calming down, the group allegedly attacked Milovanović, leaving him bruised and with a torn shirt. He stated he didn't expect such a reaction. The attackers reportedly fled when police arrived, only to return and assault Milovanović and his wife again as they sat on a bench. Neighbors emerged from their homes, prompting the assailants to flee once more.

Milovanović, who sustained bruises and a swollen wrist, believes the attackers were English tourists possibly upset by a football match result. He described them as significantly larger than himself. The police have taken a report, and an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators. The Istrian Police Department confirmed the incident, stating that several men were kicking trash cans and shouting before the 63-year-old Milovanović intervened. The 42-year-old woman was also attacked when she tried to protect him.
