Putin Awaits U.S. Negotiators for Ukraine Talks After Iran Focus Ends

Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that Russia is prepared to resume negotiations regarding Ukraine, contingent on the United States shifting its focus away from Iran. Putin stated that Moscow is "waiting" for American negotiators to arrive once "all the events are over" and the "hot phase on the Iranian dossier is completed."

Putin outlined Russia's immediate priorities, emphasizing the need to enhance air defense capabilities and secure fuel supplies, especially for annexed Crimea. These domestic concerns appear to be central to Russia's current strategic focus, even as the conflict in Ukraine continues.

The ongoing conflict saw significant aerial activity. Russia's Defense Ministry reported intercepting a total of 213 Ukrainian drones across more than a dozen regions during the night of Saturday to Sunday. Simultaneously, the governor of the southern Russian region of Krasnodar announced that a "massive" Ukrainian drone attack on Sunday resulted in one fatality and one injury, also causing a fire at a refinery.

On the Ukrainian side, officials reported that at least two people were injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv during the same night. These reports highlight the continued intensity of the conflict and the ongoing aerial exchanges between the two nations.
