Qatar welcomes Türkiye-Saudi Arabia-Pakistan defense agreement

Qatar has expressed its support for a new trilateral defense agreement linking Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, viewing it as a positive development for regional security and cooperation.

He emphasized that Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye are strategic partners with whom Qatar shares fraternal ties and common concerns.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye are countries with which we have strategic relations and fraternal ties based on a shared destiny and common concerns.

The pact, signed last Friday in Mecca by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is designed to bolster regional stability and prosperity. It is explicitly stated that the agreement does not target any specific country but aims to strengthen commitments to peace through cooperation and good-neighborly relations.

For the security of our region and the security of the world, we fully positively view any defense framework based on cooperation and good-neighborly relations.

A key aspect of the agreement is the principle of collective deterrence, stipulating that an armed attack on any of the three signatory nations will be considered an attack on all. Furthermore, the pact encompasses defense arrangements that will facilitate mutual support for security, foster cooperation in the defense industry, and improve military interoperability among Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
