Queen Margrethe visits local market in southern France

Queen Margrethe of Denmark is currently in Cahors, in the south of France, enjoying a private retreat at Chateau de Cayx. This visit follows her earlier summer stay at Gråsten Castle in Denmark.

On Saturday morning, the Queen was observed at the local market, a traditional outing for her. Images show her dressed in a light skirt and pink blouse, accompanied by a lady-in-waiting and her security detail. She was seen navigating the market with the assistance of a cane.

The Danish Royal House confirmed to the magazine Her&Nu that the Queen is on a private visit to Chateau de Cayx, near Cahors. This estate has been in the possession of the royal family since 1974 and has served as their base in France for many years. Queen Margrethe and the late Prince Henrik spent several weeks there each summer, a tradition she has continued since his passing in 2018.

The 86-year-old monarch has experienced some health issues recently. Earlier this year, she was hospitalized for heart cramps and underwent a procedure to widen a coronary artery. She also received treatment for a blood clot in her hip region.
