Quito basketball final ends in punches, player hospitalized

What should have been a sporting celebration in Quito, Ecuador, devolved into chaos on Monday. The final match of the Liga Deportiva Parroquial de Zámbiza ended prematurely when a violent brawl broke out between players from the Sangre Nueva and Crocs teams.

With less than a minute left in the game, an on-court altercation quickly spiraled into a full-blown fight. Social media videos captured the escalating violence, showing players, coaches, and even spectators joining the fray. The incident led to the suspension of the game and left several individuals injured.

One player from Sangre Nueva was seen lying on the court after the clashes. Emergency personnel attended to him before he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. His current condition has not been officially disclosed.

So far, the Liga Deportiva Parroquial de Zámbiza has not released an official statement regarding the violent events. It remains unclear if an investigation will be launched or if disciplinary actions will be taken against those involved.
