Rabaul to host boxing promotion event

Rabaul is set to host a significant boxing promotion event tomorrow night, featuring a lineup of five boxers traveling from Lae to face competitors from the East New Britain Boxing Association. The matches will cover flyweight, bantamweight, lightweight, featherweight, and super lightweight divisions.

Bernard Fong, who heads the East New Britain Boxing Association, stated that the fights are organized with the dual purpose of promoting the sport within the region and preparing local boxers for a forthcoming competition in Port Moresby. Fong has been actively organizing bouts in recent weeks to build momentum towards these upcoming matches.

A new boxing association, the East New Britain Boxing Association, has been established with Fong serving as its interim president. This new organization brings together several local clubs, including Malangan, Seagulls, Burma, and the Bernad Fong Boxing clubs, under its jurisdiction.
