Rain across South Korea amid continued heatwave; highs up to 32 C

South Korea will see mostly cloudy skies on Monday, accompanied by rain across various regions. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that while rain will fall nationwide, many areas will experience lulls in the precipitation.

Expected rainfall amounts vary by region. Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province anticipate 20 to 60 millimeters. The western coastal areas of Seohae 5 Islands are expected to receive 10 to 40 millimeters. Inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province are forecast to get 20 to 60 millimeters, while the eastern coast of Gangwon may see 5 to 20 millimeters. Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong provinces are expected to receive 20 to 60 millimeters, as are Gwangju, South Jeolla, and North Jeolla provinces. Inland areas of South Gyeongsang, Daegu, and North Gyeongsang provinces are projected to get between 5 and 50 millimeters.

Temperatures will be near or slightly above average for this time of year. The morning low temperatures are expected to range between 20 and 24 degrees Celsius (68-75 F), while daytime high temperatures will range from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius (79-90 F). Notably, inland areas across the country are forecast to experience daytime highs exceeding 30 degrees Celsius (86 F).

Specific morning temperatures include Seoul at 24 C (75 F), Incheon at 23 C (73 F), Suwon at 23 C (73 F), Chuncheon at 22 C (72 F), Gangneung at 22 C (72 F), Daejeon at 23 C (73 F), Cheongju at 23 C (73 F), Gwangju at 23 C (73 F), Jeonju at 23 C (73 F), Busan at 22 C (72 F), Ulsan at 22 C (72 F), Daegu at 23 C (73 F), and Jeju at 24 C (75 F). Afternoon temperatures will reach around 30 C (86 F) in Seoul and 28 C (82 F) in Incheon.
