Rain expected in several provinces today

Residents across several provinces in Sri Lanka can expect intermittent rain and thunderstorms on June 5, according to the Department of Meteorology. The forecast indicates a continuation of unsettled weather patterns affecting significant parts of the island.

The most intense rainfall is predicted for the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces. Additionally, the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya are likely to experience heavy downpours, with accumulations potentially reaching up to 100 millimeters in some areas. These conditions could lead to localized flooding and disruptions.

Further north, the Anuradhapura district is also expected to receive some rainfall, though likely less intense than in the southern and central regions. The weather department advises the public to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to heavy rain and thunderstorms.
