Rain expected in several Sri Lankan provinces today

Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for scattered rainfall across multiple regions of the island today.

Residents in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces can expect showers. Additionally, the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara are also anticipated to experience rainfall. These areas are likely to see intermittent rain throughout the day.

In the Uva province, as well as the Ampara and Batticaloa districts, there is a possibility of isolated showers or thundershowers developing in the afternoon, typically after 2:00 PM. These localized weather events could bring brief periods of heavier rain and thunder.

Furthermore, the forecast indicates that the Northern, North Central, and North Western provinces, along with the Trincomalee district, may experience intermittent strong winds. Travelers and residents in these areas are advised to be aware of potentially gusty conditions.
