Rain halts Čilić's match at 's-Hertogenbosch; play to resume Friday

Rain interrupted the ATP 250 tennis match between Croatia's Marin Čilić and Portugal's Nuno Borges in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Play was suspended with Borges leading the second set 6-5 after winning the first set 6-3.

Despite being down in the second set, Čilić, the 2014 US Open champion and 2017 Wimbledon finalist, managed to save a match point while serving in the tenth game. He had previously held a 3-1 lead in the second set but lost it. Borges had broken Čilić's serve twice in the first set, while Čilić secured one break early in the second set before losing his advantage.

This was not the only match affected by the weather. The match between Daniil Medvedev of Russia and Thijs Boogaard of the Netherlands was also suspended. Medvedev had won the first set 6-3, and Boogaard was leading the second set 3-2 with a break.

Both suspended matches are slated to resume on Friday. The winners will then proceed to play their quarterfinal matches on the same day, adding to an already busy schedule.
