Rainfall slightly eases today! Front moves away, temperatures to rise daily starting tomorrow

Taiwan can expect a slight reprieve from recent rainfall as a weather front gradually moves away from the island's northern coast on June 16. The southwest monsoon is also weakening, leading to reduced precipitation, though moisture levels will remain high.

Scattered showers and localized thunderstorms are anticipated, especially in central and southern Taiwan, with a possibility of heavy downpours. Other regions may also experience brief, localized showers, particularly in mountainous areas in the afternoon. Nighttime and early morning temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will reach 29 to 31 degrees Celsius.

Starting June 17, the weather is forecast to become more stable with decreasing moisture and gradually rising temperatures. Central and southern Taiwan will continue to see localized showers and thunderstorms, while northern and eastern areas will experience partly cloudy to sunny conditions with afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will range from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius depending on the region, with lows remaining between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius.

From June 18 through June 22, a strengthening Pacific high-pressure system is expected to bring more stable and warmer weather across Taiwan. Most areas will be partly cloudy to sunny. Localized thunderstorms are possible in the afternoons in central and northern regions, as well as in mountainous areas. Lingering showers may occur in southern Taiwan in the early morning due to sea and land breeze convergence. Air quality is generally good, with some areas rated as moderate.
