In Nigeria's 10th Senate, Deputy President Barau I Jibrin has emerged as the most prolific legislator, sponsoring a remarkable 42 bills within his first three years. This legislative output, spanning from June 13, 2023, to June 13, 2026, highlights his significant engagement in private member bill sponsorship. The Senate records indicate that out of the 42 bills introduced by Senator Barau, representing the Kano North Senatorial District, five have successfully passed into law. These include key legislation for the establishment of the North West Development Commission, the National Identity Management Commission (through repeal and enactment), and the Federal University of Science and Technology Kabo, among others. According to Ismail Mudashir, the Special Adviser to the Deputy President of the Senate on Media and Publicity, Senator Barau's sponsored bills are diverse, addressing critical areas such as education, industry, economic development, constitutional amendments, and governance. This broad focus underscores a comprehensive legislative agenda aimed at national development. Senator Barau's colleagues and media reports have lauded his legislative achievements, with some describing his sponsorship of 42 bills in three years as a "colossal legislative feat."
