The Rakuten Monkeys celebrated a significant milestone, achieving their 1400th team victory in franchise history with an 8-4 win over the Uni-President Lions. This crucial win not only ended a recent two-game scoring slump where the team was shut out but also marked a historic moment for the club. The Monkeys secured the victory in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a four-run rally fueled by clutch hitting from Do-Hwa-Seong Choi and Chia-Jung Liang. Manager Tseng Hao-chu highlighted the team's resilience and focus on fundamental play. "After the previous scoreless games, we still wanted to execute the basics well, slowly build up runners, and seize timely hitting opportunities," Tseng stated. "We didn't connect well in the last few games, but today we connected very effectively." Reflecting on the 1400th win, Tseng, who has been with the team since his playing days, acknowledged its significance. "It's very meaningful for the club," he said. "Whether it was the team's previous iterations or now, this is something every player has accumulated bit by bit. Winning requires doing the details well; the number of wins is just a process.
