Rasta Lightening shares wisdom on ‘The Road We Choose’

Jamaican artist Rasta Lightening, born Roger Hines, has released his latest song, 'The Road We Choose,' offering reflections on life's journey to guide listeners. The South Florida-based singer wrote and produced the track, which dropped in late July and serves as his first release of 2026.

It’s calling for people to make good choices… some people make bad choices and then it can affect their lives.

The song's central theme encourages individuals to make positive choices, as Rasta Lightening notes that poor decisions can significantly impact one's life. Hailing from Spanish Town, his musical approach is deeply rooted in his life experiences, much like his influences Bob Marley and Mykal Rose. Having traveled extensively, he translates his observations and experiences into his music.

I’ve travelled all over, so I have seen and experienced a lot, so I am able to pull it back into music.

Rasta Lightening, a committed Rastafarian for over two decades, launched his recording career in 2017. His faith, he states, keeps him grounded, and he describes most of his songs as inspirational, stemming from divine connection and improvisation. Prior to embracing Rastafarianism, he admired dancehall artists from his hometown. His previous releases include songs like 'Magga Dog' and 'Love of Hispanic Majesty.'
