Rasuwa All-Party Meeting Prioritises Ward-Level Relief and Infrastructure Repairs

The immediate response to devastating floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa district will focus on rescuing affected people and delivering relief directly to local wards, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Kiran Thapa said.

Speaking at an all-party meeting chaired by Rasuwa Chief District Officer Narendra Pariyar, Thapa said the destruction was unimaginable. He said government agencies had been instructed to prevent shortages of manpower, equipment, food, medicine and other relief supplies.

The meeting decided that relief materials collected from federal government offices would be managed through the provincial government and distributed in coordination with local authorities. The approach is intended to move assistance directly to ward level in the affected areas.

The authorities also agreed to repair roads and other damaged infrastructure immediately so transport services can resume. Federal, provincial and local governments will coordinate to mobilise the necessary resources.

Security agencies will identify and manage the bodies of people who died in the floods. Local governments will arrange sites and other logistical requirements. Alongside immediate repairs to roads and bridges, agencies will prepare longer-term reconstruction plans and strengthen security and preparedness in areas considered vulnerable to further damage.
