Raúl Martínez Requests Investigation into State Compensation Case

Raúl Martínez, the legal affairs secretary for the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, has called for an investigation into public officials and lawyers involved in a judicial case that could obligate the Dominican state to pay 2.69 billion pesos. Martínez directed his request to the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (Digeig).

The demand stems from a recent report by Diario Libre, which detailed that the state is liable for this significant sum. The payment is for 117,937.80 square meters of land located on Avenida José Contreras in the National District. The report indicated that the state's liability arose from the procedural inactivity of lawyers representing the General Directorate of National Properties.

This inactivity led to the lapse of the cassation appeal, the legal mechanism the institution intended to use to contest the condemnation. Martínez's call for an investigation highlights concerns about potential negligence or misconduct that could result in substantial financial losses for the state.
