Real Madrid confirm Cucurella signing from Chelsea

Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, securing the defender on a six-season contract until June 30, 2032. The transfer fee is reported to be 55 million euros ($63.8 million).

Cucurella, 27, brings experience from Barcelona's academy and a spell at Getafe before joining Chelsea in 2022. He is currently representing Spain at the World Cup, making him the sole Real Madrid player in Luis de la Fuente's squad. His arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu comes after a period of significant club activity, including the re-election of president Florentino Perez and the recent appointment of Jose Mourinho as the new coach.

The move marks a new chapter for Cucurella after a challenging season with Chelsea, who finished 10th in the Premier League. The defender had previously expressed criticism regarding the club's decision to sack manager Enzo Maresca in January. During his time at Stamford Bridge, Cucurella contributed to Chelsea winning the Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League in 2025.

Real Madrid's transfer business appears active, with reports also linking them to Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate and Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries. The club aims to strengthen its squad after two seasons without major silverware.
