Record Summer for Rotselaar's 'de Plas' Swimming Zone with 40,000 Visitors

Rotselaar's 'de Plas' swimming zone is enjoying an unprecedented summer, having already welcomed 40,000 visitors before the official end of the holiday period. This figure marks a new record for the recreation area, exceeding all previous attendance numbers at this stage of the season.

Located in the Ter Heide recreation domain and opened in May, 'de Plas' has become a popular destination for people seeking relief from the summer heat. On the hottest days, the zone accommodates up to 1,500 visitors daily. Its design, featuring a wide beach area, shaded lawns, and a shallow section for children, ensures ample space for everyone.

To enhance the visitor experience during warm weather, the swimming zone extends its opening hours by an hour, staying open until 9:00 PM. The 40,000th visitors, Evi, Annabel, and Tineke, were celebrated with a gift bag and a voucher for the on-site summer bar, BAR314. They described the zone as providing a "real holiday feeling, but close to home."

'De Plas' offers incentives for visitors, including free entry for Rotselaar residents upon presentation of their ID and a reduced fee of 8 euros for cyclists, down from the usual 12 euros. With continued warm temperatures forecasted, the municipality anticipates further high visitor numbers in the coming weeks.
