This incident follows closely on the heels of another significant crash in the race. Just two days earlier, Danish cyclist Jonas Vingegaard also suffered a broken collarbone after a fall. Lipowitz had been positioned fifth overall before the time trial, and his exit results in Danish rider Mattias Skjelmose moving up to sixth place in the general classification.

The crash was a blow to Red Bull's campaign on a day that saw Remco Evenepoel claim a dominant victory in the time trial, marking his second consecutive stage win and solidifying his second place in the overall standings.
