Reniec opens 235 agencies June 7 for DNI collection ahead of elections

Peru's National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) announced an extraordinary measure to facilitate voter participation in the upcoming general election runoff. On Sunday, June 7, 235 Reniec agencies across the country will operate to allow citizens to collect their National Identity Documents (DNI) that have already been processed.

The initiative is designed to ensure that all eligible voters possess the necessary identification to exercise their right to vote in the election's second round. Operating hours for these offices will differ depending on the region, but generally span from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Official elections are scheduled to conclude at 5:00 p.m. by the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).

Reniec has provided a comprehensive list of the 235 habilitated offices, distributed across all regions of Peru, including Amazonas, Áncash, Apurímac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Ica, Junín, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Loreto, Madre de Dios, Moquegua, Pasco, Piura, Puno, San Martín, Tacna, Tumbes, and Ucayali. A specific online link is available for citizens to verify the exact location and operating schedule of their nearest office.

To streamline the process and avoid unnecessary trips, Reniec strongly advises citizens to first confirm the status of their DNI application online. By entering their DNI number or application number on the Reniec website, individuals can check if their document is 100% ready for collection. This pre-verification step ensures that those visiting the offices on Sunday will be able to retrieve their essential identification for the elections.
