Renowned Turkish actor Kadir İnanır dies at 77

The Turkish entertainment world mourns the loss of veteran actor Kadir İnanır, who passed away at the age of 77. İnanır died on June 14, 2026, after being hospitalized on May 14, 2026, due to a sudden illness. He spent six days in intensive care before succumbing to complications from a lung infection.

Born in 1949, İnanır was a towering figure in Turkish cinema, known for his distinctive roles and powerful screen presence. He began his career in the early 1970s and starred in over 100 films and television series, becoming one of the most recognizable faces in the industry.

His final journey will be marked by a memorial service at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage on Sunday, June 28, at 1:00 PM. Following the service, funeral prayers will be held at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque after the afternoon prayer.

İnanır will be laid to rest at Ulus Cemetery, with his family, loved ones, and fans in attendance to bid farewell to the celebrated artist. His passing marks the end of an era for Turkish cinema.
